Gear List/Packing Philosophy
Lighter is better, most of the time. I prefer a heavier pack with added padding, and do not mind toting a 4lb sleeping bag. I'm unwilling to sacrifice comfort or warmth because of pack weight. That said, I prefer the ultralight route on anything else, given the option. I also don't believe in packing different for a day hike than a camping trip. My base weight for a day hike is probably 9lbs, and camping is around 13lbs.
